Oct. 4th, 2003 @ 02:44 am Stressed Out
Since apparently one of the main uses for LiveJournal is for people to rant randomly about the various happenings of their life, and I've definately been skimping on such babblings, I'm going to do so now.

Some of you may know that I make anime music videos. One of my most popular ones Stress is a lighthearted romp through the Cowboy Bebop universe using a Jim's Big Ego song. I had thought that they were merely a cool band that played some interesting music that spans the spectrum and avoids having a poppish feel to it. And yet, when I get home from work, I find out that they've sent me an order to cease and desist, to completely change my opinion of them.

Jon Dan (2:47:56 PM): you there? Jim from Jim's Big Ego is standing next to me...
Jon Dan (2:49:05 PM): he wanted to send you his latest disc...

Well damn, I guess I have to cease the act of not owning their latest CD, and desist in my belief that they are merely a cool band and move onto saying that they are completely awesome!

Also, while on the topic of Jim's Big Ego, any of your DC area people interested in going to see them live at Jammin Java on Oct 25, 2003? It should be an excellent show.

Dammit, you beat me to saying "Holy fuckballs!"

That's incredibly awesome, dude! Nice! Now I wish I could see them in DC :P If you go, you gotta tell them who you are, go backstage, make out with groupies... you know the deal. Hey, you gave them free publicity, didn't you?

You could always come down to DC to visit, and see them live here. Or they are a Boston band, so they play up there more often presumably. Looking at their calendar, the next day, they are playing in the Knitting Factory in NY, which should be much closer to where you are. The word of Jim's Ego must be spread!

I'm totally going backstage and introducing myself when I get a chance, and maybe get some photos, we shall see when the date comes around.

Unfortunately yes, but I wasn't particularily planning on heading up this year always, since I'm contemplating heading up the next weekend for Halloween though.

Asshat :P Now I have to tell Mike and Meri something completely different tomorrow because I didn't have time to read the cut. BTW, they used "It's Tricky" as the background for the closing titles of the contest at AnimeNext- and people booed when the song faded out early....

What were you going to tell them? That I pissed off the wrong people and so got the brute squad called on me to escort me to jail, where I'd be spending lots of time with a melodromatic convict named Bruce who has nothing better to do than to describe the trials and tribulations of his childhood which were the basis for his evolution into a petty thug? *wince* That'd be a horrible fate that, even a bastard like me doesn't deserve.

They used just the song, or the actual video? The song(or the video) isn't really all that long, so I guess they must've not had all that much in the way of closing stuff. Hope that their contest went out well.

I just had time to skim everyone's entries, no cuts, before heading off to the con, and told them that you had gotten a Cease and Desist from one of the groups whose music you made a video to (couldn't remember the name of the group at the time).

No, they just used the song as the background music to the closing titles- was only like 45 seconds or so long. The contest went pretty well- could have used more entries (esp. in action) to have had a bit more in the way of competition (though truth told, I think very few videos eligible could have given IWIWAL a run in comedy...), but the contest went rather well. Pity it was one of the few things that seemed to at the con :P

Now I *am* really intersted in going... And that's awesome that they wanted to send you the disc. Major points for that one in my book.
