Aug. 1st, 2005 @ 06:12 pm Trip to Michigan
Visiting poeticruse and lillokiangel was a great time. Tis always good to spend quality time with them like the good ol days as opposed to the massive group gatherings that comprise Carnival, 4oJ, and the other such Pittsburgh parties. Somehow whenever we did manage to go out to eat, we always ended up at Mexican places. While there, the three of us did manage to(at Steph’s request, perhaps a hint?) go see the Wedding Crashers which was good for a few laughs. I suppose on the way I also managed to meet some of the Trimmers(my dorky World of Warcraft guild) alongside Donald and Steph couldn’t hurt either.

poerticruse’s house invokes much housing envy in me. His condo is like a quarter section of a mega house with the garages placed cleverly to avoid shared walls among living space. It certainly was a very interesting housing design(that worked really well in my opinion) that I really hadn’t seen before. Donald’s cat, Wilhelm certainly does lord over his domain. Apparently at some point just before I got there, the kitty condo lord decided that the couch wasn’t moving fast enough and lowered it.

The Trimmer Bash itself was a load of fun, though horribly tiring. Spending 6 hours of time paintballing is truly an exhausting experience, and I’ve got tons of welts and bugbites as battle scars. Thanks to Swab’s suggestion, I had a WWLD(What Would Leeroy Do?) shirt to bust out in the middle of paintballing. Amusingly enough, despite our field ref commenting that we were good about the rules and not making him give us tickets, he did wind up calling us nuts when we screamed LEEEERRROOOYYYY and _everyone_ on both sides ignored cover and charged into the battlefield into an orgy of painted death. Also our guild leader has a beautiful house on the lake, so I also got a chance to try out his jetskis. Those things are an absolute blast to ride around in, but I do have a particular penchant for quick maneuverable vehicles. Maybe I’ll have to figure out a way to play around on them again at dpbcon.

On my fight there, I did manage to finish reading Harry Potter 6, and I do have to agree with princessdiablo - it really is rather predictable. Managed to put my money where my mouth was and post my predictions from the halfway point, and found that I had worked out much of the main plotline, and even made some inroads into what I think will happen in book 7. It’s amazing that looking around this airport(which somehow fails to have workable wireless), the number of people who are at various stages of reading the book. Almost makes me want to submit to my bastardly ways and jump out and yell:

What? I was talking about crashing. TS seems to crash for you all the time, and you keep trying to get other people to fix it for you...
