Play Alliance, you newb! ;)

Heh. I have some characters on Argent Dawn, but I don't play there very often, just yet. I'm concentrating on my Nightelven Priest on Archimonde.

WoW is such an addictive game. >_

And all this time, I thought it was Alliance that was for n00bs, and the Hordeside that was for the players looking for a challenge(being outnumbered 3:1 or so).

I'm just a sucker for Role Play, even if there isn't that much of it on AD.

amusing timeline

You'll win high points for originality.

If I could put flower gardening, drawing for my cafepress guinea pig store and cooking dinner in a timeline, well....maybe I just did.

Worse than playing Horde (which outnumbers Alliance 8:5 on my server), you're a discipline priest? Boooooo.

Now <a href="http://wow.allakhazam.com/profile.html?3738" HERE </a> is a real priest.

Though I'm supprised that you went the full Holy route. Holy Nova's just not an attractive enough talent for me to keep around, especially since it means losing Inner Focus. Amusingly enough, we've got much of the same equipment, but such is the fate of high level priests.

Yeah, I have to re-spec to remove holy nova. I liked it as a no-aggro AoE. Now, it's useless. It's basically an instant miniscule heal that happens to do a little damage. Not at all what it used to be.

If you get a chance, I'd like to see what your tri-build is.

Bored at work right now, so I can ramble a bit.

Shadow: 21 points
Blackout(5/5)
Improved Shadow Word: Pain (2/2)
Shadow Focus(5/5)
Improved Psychic Scream(2/2)
Mind Flay(1/1)
Improved Fade(2/2)
Shadow Reach(3/3)
Silence(1/1)

Discipline: 21 points
Unbreakable will(5/5)
Improved Power Word Shield(3/3)
Improved Power Word Fortitude(2/2)
Mental Agility(5/5)
Mental Strength(5/5)
Inner Focus(1/1)

Holy: 9 points
Improved Renew(5/5)
Spiritual Healing(4/5)

The shadow tree gives utility in the form of Silence, faster fears, and longer Fade. The longer SW:P and mind flay spells are our most efficient ways of doing damage in any tree. They are quite useful in PvP for laying annoying DoTs, and holding up runners, since any actual roots are getting weakened considerably. The guild that I'm in has a couple of Holy/Disc priests, so they've got the Greater Heal angle covered, and thus most of my healing comes from Renews, Flash Heals, and Prayer of Healing. A slight boost to their efficiency comes from the few points in the Holy tree lets me keep up with pretty much any other healer in that department. The Disclipline tree nets me a lot more mana(I'm riding a bit under 7k unbuffed now), and Inner Focus gets me a free spell(usually PoH, which is basically an extra 1k mana in a fight and even a bit more with the crit chance).

Personally I never saw the point of a crit build(like you seem to have) for healing, as oftentimes you end up overhealing(thus making the crit useless). I suppose Inspiration makes a fair bit of difference, but the warriors that I tend to be grouping with nowadays are all hitting the 7k mark for AC, which means that extra 20% has negligable effect on mitigating damge..

The crit build is very beneficial to everyone. Inspiration affects Prayer of Healing as well, so mages, rogues, paladins, etc. who do not have 7,000+ AC can also reap the benefits. Once I have my Ogre Magi, I'll be much better off. Since I am designed for nothing but healing, I don't worry about doing DoT damage or slowing runners. Quicker fear is nice, but with the new PvP trinket, it's not really going to make a big difference.

I know it comes down to a "different strokes" kind of class, but critting on a Greater Heal for over 6,000 HP is a thing of beauty. Give me a good tank, and people don't die when I'm in the party; not even me.

One of the best things about playing a priest is the fact that we have multiple builds that all are viable in the end game. Since I've been doing mainly PvE raiding now(for Molten Core/Onyxia/Kazzak), the times in which I'm not healing the warriors, we're in bad shape already. One of the things that I've learned is to let the mage/rogue die when they decide to do too much damage to let the warrior regain aggro. A priest that blows all their mana on healing the glass cannons will have run out of tricks in the end game. In PvP, I'm sure that build helps since people will target those classes first since there's a ton of damage potential, and they go down quick.

Healing for 6k hp is only good if the MT is down 6k hp already. I've only seen tanks to about 8k hp total fully buffed, and a 2k hp buffer just isn't enough to keep the crit from going to waste. Though really my main adversion to crit builds was the fact that up until the most recent patch, +crit items didn't actually affect healing spells.

Horde outnumebers Alliance on your server? The Alliance outnumbers the horde 3:1 on Argent Dawn.... I was somehow under the impression that Alliance outnumbered the Horde on all the servers. But that might just be for the RP/PvE servers rather than the PvP servers that you're on.

Some of those screenshots are when I had been trying out a Disc build since we had been doing raids in my guild. I'm still most happy with my tri-build for the utility of Shadow, the longetivity of Disc, and a slight boost in healing effectiveness.
