Apr. 11th, 2005 @ 01:33 pm Trip to California
Tags:
California was a blast, got to meet up with lots of people that have moved out there to the nice sunny areas over there. Got to ride in the infamous 2L33T4U Porsche. Ate at many fabuluous restaurants. Travelled around Napa valley sampling the wines of the area. Learned to speak entirely in the passive voice.

Skiing out there was great as usual, having spent 2 days at NorthStar and 2 more days at Squaw Valley. It's amazing how tiring 4 straight days of skiing is(but then again, I might just be out of shape from playing World of Warcraft so much getting to level 60 and getting my epic
mount). Snow was nice and soft, weather was sunny and pleasant, which made it great terrain to ski on, as well as to attempt to learn how to do rails.

Unfortunately on the way home, the airline decided that my luggage didn't need to be flown on the same plane as me, and would've been better off on a later flight. I didn't mind this so much as it meant that they would deliver it to my house the day afterwards, except that I had to spend an hour in line describing my luggage and such to the clerks there so that I could get my stuff back.

Other photos are here.

Also if anyone wants to be asked/ask me questioned for this ressurected interview meme, I'd be down with that.

Neat, you don't get ski slopes like that around here... It looks like you got to ski pretty much where you wanted to, and didn't have to stay inside the trails they define for you. But where are the snow machines?!

Squaw Valley has a very unique setup where they just have a bunch of lifts, and you can find your own way down the mountain. There are a bunch of ~30 minute runs(blues), and if you want to cut across the snaking nature of those, you have lots of black segments. Northstar had a more traditional setup with lifts and trails(but they had a much better terrain park).

I don't think they have snow machines. This is the amount left over from the winter...

Oh, we were wrong about the scene by the guest director. Apparently it's the one after the one that we were talking about(in the car with the talking).
