Jun. 15th, 2004 @ 02:32 pm Social ear for my indie peers
Tags:
Lots of various concerts coming up in the DC area, and maybe some of you might be interested in some of them.

2004-07-08 - Pierre Bensusan @ Jammin Java This is one of the guys that queftzefoni, smoovygee, Jen and I went to go see at International Guitar night a few months back. It was a good show, and he's an amazing guitarist.

2004-07-16 - Jim's Big Ego @ Jammin Java Do they need much of an introduction beyond this?

2004-07-24 - Evanescence @ Merriweather Post Pavilion Not really indie music, but still good.

Also, smoovygee and kusoyaro are you guys still up for seeing Keane this Sunday?

On a completely random note, while cleaning up all of the various downloads that I have yet to look through, I found an amv done to Come What May and found it interestesting how that particular person decided to do a take on the song compared to my own photomontage for uberfluffy and uberbeth's wedding. If you're bored, take a look at both of them at: http://desu.org/fabwedding/

Maybe, I dunno. I might've grabbed it from your silly little amv countdown thing, and not looked at it. I still like my version better. But I know the people involved and not the anime, so maybe that makes a difference. I'm curious what other people who haven't seen either think.

My silly countdown?

*me takes your video off of it* :P

If the video is to "Hoshi no Koe" (Voices of a Distant Star), then it's probably his and you probably got it from me since he (unfortunately) doesn't have his video hosted ;_;.

I like it a lot (duh), but have a different take on it that I may try one day.

Yeah, that's probably the anime. Not a series that I've seen, so I have no connection to the characters. Wasn't really impressed with the action sync of the video, and didn't really feel that it went with the flow of the music, but meh. Everyone has their own opinions.

First off, since you haven't seen "Hoshi no Koe," I suggest doing so. It's a great show and impressive since one person did all the animation and his wife and him did the voice-work.

Anyway, strange that you say that. That's actually the reason I like it. It's synced so differently to what I would've done and where I see sync-points and yet I think it still works. To each his own I guess.

Sure. Do you want to meet at Hsien's place around 5 PM? Hsien has to work on Sunday and won't be back until around then. Then we can pile into one car and take that to wherever Fletchers is in Baltimore (has anyone been there?).

According to Ticketmaster, the show starts (or the doors open) at 6 PM, but Matt Pond PA and Aveo are opening for Keane so I figure we can be a little late.

Sounds like a good plan to me. And if Hsien isn't there when we arrive, we can totally trash the place!

I may have to take a look at the other video just to compare it to how awesome your video is. Of course, I'm a little biased, because you made that one for me and Beth. We're taking the DVD you made for us up to Altoona this weekend to show off to some people who couldn't make it to our wedding.

As I said on NP, Jim's big ego sounds like it will be fun, and I hope to go.
